Green hair or Swimmer hair
Green hair may appear when people with light colored hair swim in a pool. Water of the pool may cause reversible pigmentary changes of the hair. Contrary to most believe, green hair is not caused by chlorine, rather by copper ions. The pigmentary changes will appear as long as the swimmer keeps swimming in pool water, without any proper medication or treatment.
Applying a 2-3% hydrogen peroxide solution to the hair, leaving it to rest for 30 minutes should take care of the hair pigmentation. Chelating agents, applied to the hair after swimming, will help the hair in getting its original color back.
