Skin information - skin layers

skin layers

Our skin is more complex than you would first think. The outside layer, the layer that we see , is constantly worn down and replaced. It prevents excessive moisture loss and gives our skin a healthy look.

The deeper layers, which gives our skin its strength and elasticity contain the sweat glands and hear roots.

There are two main layers in our skin: epidermis (the outer layer) and dermis (the inner layer).
Melanoma, a severe skin cancer, are usually found in the lower epidermis.
The thickness of the skin varies from thick on the neck to thin on the stomach.

The skin protects the body from external factors such as temperature and bacteria.
The skin has secretions that kill bacteria, our pigment cells will protect us from damaging sun light.
When opposed to low temperature, the skin will protect the body by constricting the blood vessels in the dermis.

The warm blood will bypass the skin, leaving the skin with the same temperature as the external temperature and therefore preventing the body heat to cool down.
